Research

There are two main areas of investigation in the Long Lab. We are focused on how undergraduate biology students learn biology and developing methods that can improve learning. One line of investigation is the short- and long-term benefits of active teaching in an Introductory Biology course. For more information on this research area, please visit Reforming Introductory Biology. A second line of investigation is the use of student-constructed models to improve student thinking about biological systems. For more information on this research area please visit Models and Visualizations.

There are other research projects that are ongoing in the lab.
