Notes for facilitating a successful discussion:

  • Statistics
    • come with questions about stats (learn what you can) especially if you are presenting the methodology
  • Have set questions at the beginning but flow into an open discussion
  • Stay on schedule (set time limits for specific discussions)
  • Assign a focus for the reading beforehand (topics to think about)
    • contextualize paper within the goals of the lab
  • Come with your own questions
  • Think, pair, share only if necessary
